During the first Vietnamese badminton match at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, on the morning of December 7, Nguyen Thuy Linh entered the court and did not disappoint either the technical staff or the fans. The Vietnamese player lost the first set, but made a spectacular comeback against the number 1 of the Malaysian women’s team, Karupathevan Letshanaa (42nd in the world).
The second part saw the overwhelming victory of Nguyen Thuy Linh with a score of 21/10. In the third game, the 1997-born player fell behind several times, but she rallied in the final game and secured a thrilling 23/21 victory, beating Letshanaa with a final score of 2-1.

The Vietnamese women’s badminton team started well with an important victory, but failed to create a surprise against the Malaysians. In the second match (the continuation of the women’s singles), Vu Thi Trang faced Ling Ching Wong (the second best player of the Malaysian team, 44th in the world). Vu Thi Trang lost 14/21 in the first set. In the second, Nguyen Tien Minh’s wife showed her fighting spirit by securing a thrilling 22/20 victory, tying the match at 1-1 and reviving hopes of a turnaround. Unfortunately, Vu Thi Trang lost 14/21 in the third set, losing definitively to Ling Ching Wong on this score.
The third match of the women’s doubles badminton tournament pitted Pham Thi Dieu Ly and Pham Thi Khanh against Pearly Tan and Muralitharan Thinaah (world number 2). Despite their efforts, the two Vietnamese quickly lost 0-2 (12/21, 8/21) against clearly superior opponents.

The Vietnamese women’s badminton team lost 1-3 to the Malaysian women’s team, thus stopping at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games.
The women’s badminton team event consists of 5 matches (3 singles and 2 doubles), in the following order: singles, singles, doubles, singles, doubles. The team that wins 3 matches first wins the tournament. In accordance with the management’s instructions, Nguyen Thuy Linh and Vu Thi Trang were to play the final women’s doubles match.
