NFL Field Standards: New Quality Criteria

The NFL and the NFL Player Association have agreed on a set of quality rules that the fields will have to apply from 2028. These new rules will apply from next season for teams that will replace or modify their playing surface. The director of the fields of the league, Nick Pappas, specified that the fields would be tested and approved by a joint committee with the NFLPA.

« We want to make sure we support our clubs and our athletes and ensure that each discipline that enters our league meets the requirements which we believe are obviously constantly evolving, but always relevant », he adds.

For its part, in a press release, the NFLPA declared: “ While our member players have clearly expressed their strong preference for high-quality natural grass fields, we are encouraged to see that their demands for more uniform and safer fields are moving in the right direction. We look forward to continuing this work with the NFL on behalf of our member players. »
