The new regulations apply from 1 January. Swedish Trotting has three regulations governing the sport: the competition regulations, the breeding and registration regulations and the anti-doping regulations. In addition to these, there are also other regulations and provisions that all active people need to be aware of.

– Clarification of what does not constitute a material defect that interrupts the start
If a material fault occurs on a team, a restart can be ordered. In this change, the application instructions clarify which material faults do not lead to a restart. This includes so-called “jerk tusses” that have fallen out, errors in blindfolds on the Norwegian main team, and changes to equipment that have not broken or fallen off the horse.
– Clarification of position at VOLT start
Some clarifications in the application instructions for the starting situation.
- After the command word “ready”, a space of approximately 10 meters of the behind volt/hem is available.
- When ironing a horse with starting track 1 or 2, however, a horse with track 3 maintains this in the vault, and then at the start moment uses the track closest to the horse with a lower starting track. If the horses with starting track 1 and 2 are crossed, the horse with starting track 3 is moved to starting track 1.

– Additions regarding positive alcohol and drug tests
A person who has tested positive for alcohol, drugs or other intoxicants and who has been banned from participating during the competition day, must present a negative alcohol or drug test before the person is again allowed to warm up the horse before the competition.
– Clarification regarding the handing over of information and documentation to Swedish Trotting Sport
As well as strengthening the fact that people who do not comply with the directive must be punished.
– Expansion of the cooperation clause to include gross negligence.
