Manuel Neuer’s career could have been completely different. The 39-year-old revealed this on the show ‘At Broski’: “After the U19, 1. FC Köln was very interested in me – and Arsenal FC. At that time, Arsène Wenger was still a coach who spoke many languages. But I didn’t want to go abroad because I knew that it would be difficult as a youth goalkeeper.”
Neuer decided to stay at FC Schalke, where he made his breakthrough in professional football in the 2006/07 season. In 2011, Neuer moved to FC Bayern. The 2014 world champion is still under contract there today.
