NEWARK – Slovak hockey player Šimon Nemec will be out of action for about two to four weeks. New Jersey Devils coach Sheldon Keefe told overseas reporters after Sunday’s practice.
“It looks like he’ll need more time. He skated yesterday, but the doctors didn’t recommend him to play. It could be another two to four weeks before he’s able to go full speed again and we can put him in the game.” Keefe said after Devils practice.
The 21-year-old German has missed the last seven games with a lower-body injury, last appearing on December 11 against Tampa Bay. In 31 duels of the current season, he collected 18 points for seven goals and 11 assists.
Pospíšil trained on the ice, so far individually
According to the Canadian media, Slovak hockey forward Martin Pospíšil was already on the ice and completed individual skating training at the Calgary Flames training center. The Canadian club has not yet revealed the date of the Slovak’s return to match action, but the general manager of the “Flames” Craig Conroy confirmed the positive news for the overseas media a few days ago.
The fact that Pospíšil was individually on the ice at the WinSport training center was reported on the X social network by Wes Gilbertson from Postmedia.
Pospišil has not started this season due to an unspecified injury, and the management of the Canadian club did not inform about his condition for a long time. At the end of the year, however, Conroy confirmed the positive news about the 26-year-old striker, which was originally reported by the Slovak media.
The Flames didn’t say what kind of injury Pospíšil is dealing with, but with his history of concussions, there were concerns that it might be a similar issue now. In any case, the club is cautious and does not want to rush the Slovak striker’s return. Pospíšil is known for his hard-hitting game, setting a club record with 301 hits last season. In the summer, he extended his contract with Calgary by three years.
Pospíšil withdrew from the friendly match on October 1. At first it seemed that it was nothing serious, but he ended up starting the season on the injured list and is still out of the lineup today. He played 144 games in the NHL, scoring 12 goals and collecting 49 points. He played 81 games for the Flames last season with a record of 4+21.
