At the end of the week before last, the newspaper Aktuálně.cz was the first to report that Croatian coach Slaven Bilič is joining Jindřich Trpišovský in the FAČR selection.
This Saturday, after Slavia’s match with Jablonec, FAČR chairman David Trunda announced that Trpišovský is out of the selection because Slavia won’t let him go.
Now it seems that even the second dream name will not come out. Which means a big problem for national team manager Pavel Nedvěd – the national team has been without a coach for two months after Ivan Hašek was fired.
The Croatian daily Jutarnji list has now reported, based on its sources, that Bilič rejected the Czech Republic, twice.
“I know what kind of personality Nedvěd is. The golden ball, my God… After all, I won’t be rude and accept an invitation to dinner from the general manager of the national team,” said Bilič in conversation for the aforementioned newspaper and added that the Czech Republic was not his choice.
But Nedvěd is reportedly not giving up on the 57-year-old coach, who has experience in the Premier League and has now been out of work for a year and a half. Jutarnji list claims that he still insists on meeting for dinner, either in Zagreb or in Split.
Czech footballers will welcome Ireland in the play-off semi-finals in Prague. In the event of promotion, she would again play either Denmark or North Macedonia at home in the final.
