Three straight victories in the ski cross world cup – but in Italian Innichen the winning streak was over.
Sandra Näslund came third after Marielle Berger Sabbatel, France, and Fanny Smith, Switzerland.
Näslund explained the tactics in Viaplay’s broadcast. She believed that the importance was to get a good start to get a gap to the other riders and then be able to focus on the riding itself in peace and quiet.
That’s exactly what happened in Italy – at least initially.
The star was superior in the quarter-finals and in the semi-finals, but when she slipped with the pole in the final, the start was not the desired one. Thus, the 29-year-old ended up in a different situation compared to earlier in the season.
Now she was forced to chase places, the riding became more stressful and she finished in third place behind Marielle Berger Sabbatel, France, and Fanny Smith, Switzerland.
The next World Cup competition awaits on Sunday, which will also be run in Innichen.
Sandra Näslund has nevertheless had a great start to the season – the star’s comeback after two seasons ruined by injuries – and tops the total on 360 points, 115 ahead of runner-up Fanny Smith.
David Mobärg, third from Arosa, already disappeared in the quarter-finals. Erik Mobärg also went out in the quarter-finals.
