Nansha Basketball: 2025 Trade Union Competition Results

On December 14, the 2025 Nansha District Federation of Trade Unions “Passionately Welcomes the National Games – Nansha Basketball Drawing” employee basketball competition concluded successfully at the Guangyi Road Basketball Hall in Gangwan Street. Meng Ziqiang, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Nansha District People’s Congress and chairman of the District Federation of Trade Unions, attended the closing ceremony and witnessed the glorious moment with more than 200 participating employees, referees and spectators.

This event responds to the Greater Bay Area’s call to host the National Games, with the purpose of enriching employees’ cultural life and enhancing the cohesion of trade union organizations, and building a high-quality platform for employees in various industries to communicate and interact. Since the start of the competition on November 29, 16 federation of trade union teams from various government units, towns and streets, social organizations and catering, public transportation, auto parts, construction and other industries in Nansha District, with a total of more than 200 employee athletes, have participated in 32 fierce competitions, fully demonstrating the positive, united and hard-working spirit of Nansha employees in the new era. In the end, the Nansha Street Federation of Trade Unions team won the championship with its outstanding performance, the Gangwan Street Federation of Trade Unions team won the runner-up, and the Nansha District Construction Project Quality and Safety Supervision Team ranked third.

The final showdown was between the Nansha Street Federation of Trade Unions and the Gangwan Street Federation of Trade Unions. The whole game was full of climaxes and suspense. With their superb skills and tacit cooperation, the players from both sides launched fierce offense and defense. Fast break counterattacks, precise long-range shots, and tight defense took turns. Applause and cheers came one after another. The score was tight in the first half. In the second half, the Nansha Street Federation of Trade Unions gradually widened the gap with its more efficient offensive organization and stable defensive performance. Finally, it defeated its opponent with a score of 79:68 and won the championship. Although the Gangwan Street Federation of Trade Unions team unfortunately lost to its opponent, its tenacious fighting spirit won the unanimous recognition of the audience and won the runner-up. The Nansha District Construction Engineering Quality and Safety Supervision Team performed well in the battle for third place, winning third place with solid tactical execution and teamwork.

During the competition, all participating team members fought bravely and sweated hard, not only showing their superb basketball skills, but also interpreting the spirit of “unity, hard work, and friendship”. Among them, Chen Zehui from the Nansha Street Federation of Trade Unions stood out for his outstanding performance in many games. He scored 18 points in 21 shots and 9 hits. After the game, he received the highest score of 5.28 in the game. He was awarded the title of Best Player (MVP) in the basketball game for his outstanding personal ability and team awareness.

At the closing ceremony, leaders and guests present presented trophies, medals and honorary plaques to the winning teams and individuals. Meng Ziqiang said that the successful holding of this employee basketball competition provided a platform for employees to compete in skills and exchange feelings, and effectively stimulated the sports enthusiasm and team cohesion of the employee group. It is hoped that all employees will transform the fighting spirit on the field into motivation at work, work together to build a future, and contribute more to the high-quality development of Nansha District.
