Alvar Myhlback is ready for the Tour de ski.
If he wants to.
– He has a free place, I hope he wants to take advantage of it, says national team manager Anders Byström
The last World Cup competition before Christmas has been decided. Now awaits the Tour de ski.
And with the Olympics less than two months away, there is great interest in the tour among the Swedish riders.
– There are a lot of people who want to drive, more than ever. There will be competition for places, says Anders Byström.
A rider is more skeptical. Byström does not want to say who it is.
– I don’t know if she wants to go out with that. But one of the girls has said that it shouldn’t run.
On Thursday, the Swedish squad for the Tour de ski will be taken out. Sweden has ten women’s places and nine men’s places.
Secured place for Tour de ski: “Hopefully”
Alvar Myhlback took the first podium of his career in Trondheim last weekend and is current for the tour.
– He has performed on the podium, not many guys have. If he wants to go, the chances are very good, says Byström.
Everything depends on whether Myhlback wants to go.
The 19-year-old is ninth in the sprint cup as the best Swede. The top 20 in the sprint cup get a free place for the Tour de ski.
– I hope he wants to take advantage of it.
After the World Cup in Trondheim, the talent caught a cold and missed the season premiere of the Ski Classics long-distance cup.
– We will hear from him now, and whether he recovers from his little illness.
Myhlback has opened the door for the Tour de ski.
– It would certainly have been a cool experience to go on the tour. But I have to consider that there will be very important long races in a row afterwards. Then I really have to be fit for fight and have as good a charge as possible. So we’ll see, he previously told Expressen.
Edvin Anger and Anton Grahn are also top 20 in the sprint cup.
