My First Marathon: Vote for Participants!

In order to choose 10 runners who will enter the starting line in their first half-marathon or marathon on May 17, 2026, “Rimi” Riga Marathon in cooperation with the public media portal LSM.lv offers to vote for their favorites. The selected participants will prepare for 16 weeks under the guidance of coaches in the “My First Marathon” program and will share their training process on social media, inspiring and motivating others as well.

You can vote by connecting to a social media account or by specifying your e-mail address. A link will be sent to the specified email address, which must be clicked to count the vote (you can also copy the link received in the e-mail into the Internet browser window and press “Enter”).

”My first marathon” is the “Rimi” Riga Marathon messenger program, which will provide 10 runners with all the necessary support for an intensive 16-week training phase, actively training both individually and together with teammates, accompanied by three professional coaches, in order to prepare for their first long distance – 21 km or 42 km – race.

Trainers Anita Siliņa-Kažemākas, Ilona Marhele and Nils Briedis will develop an individual training plan for each participant and provide the necessary support and advice during the entire program.

23 brightest candidates – 15 women and 8 men – take part in the voting, which is the second round of selection. From the public vote, up to eight participants who get the most votes will enter the program. In total, the Riga Marathon will host 10 participants in the “Rimi” program – part of them will be determined by the results of the public vote, while the other part of the participants will participate at the invitation of the organizers.

Voting on LSM.lv will last until December 14 at 23.59, allowing the audience to vote daily, choosing one woman and one man once a day.
