Purchase 60 million WLD via OTC
$30 million transaction

According to LookOnChain, an on-chain data analysis account, a wallet believed to be associated with cryptocurrency investment company Multicoin Capital purchased 60 million World Coins (WLD) through OTC trading on the 24th.

The transaction size is $30 million (approximately KRW 44.1 billion), and the transaction level per WLD is approximately $0.50.

Multicoin Capital is a cryptocurrency investment company that has invested in a number of blockchain projects such as Solana and Avalanche, and is known as one of the early investors in World Coin.

World Coin is a digital identity authentication project that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman co-founded. It provides a ‘World ID’ system that uses iris scanning to prove that you are a human, and aims to distinguish between artificial intelligence and bots.

However, due to privacy protection controversy surrounding biometric information collection, some countries have implemented regulatory measures on World Coin operations.

WLD has fallen more than 95% from its highest level of $11.80 recorded in March 2024 and is currently trading around $0.49.

Multicoin Capital and World Coin did not make an official statement regarding the transaction.
