Wednesday’s match of the 31st round of the Tipsport extra league in Pardubice had a bitter end for the home team. Although they took a three-goal lead at the beginning of the match, they gradually lost their lead, did not even maintain the regained lead and lost to Olomouc 4:5 after extra time. The game was also affected by the injury of the visiting Rok Macuh, who was taken away on a stretcher by the medics in the second period. Lukáš Sedlák and Petr Fridrich looked back after the duel.
“We quickly took the lead and then we started to play really well. They gave us goals after our mistakes. Then we scored a goal to make it 4:3, but we didn’t take care of it. Clearly our mistakes. In my opinion, we played it tactically wrong,” Dynamo captain Sedlák was clear.
However, Hanák’s most productive player Fridrich confirmed that after a very unsuccessful start to the match, his team did not lay down their arms. “I think that our game was not completely bad, that Pardubice would completely outplay us, which happened in some matches. So we still believed, we had chances.”

” href=”https://www.hokej.cz/hrac/jan-mandat/14310″>Jan Mandát was left lying motionless on the ice and had to be treated by paramedics. “It’s always unpleasant when you see someone lying limp on the ice. It’s never a nice sight,” said Sedlák, but he added: “I saw how it was developing, but not the last moment. He did about four backflips and Mandy just He didn’t see it. But that player bears some responsibility for it. Everyone has to be ready for the fight, where he is.”
“I think we played it tactically wrong.”
By the way, Pardubice assistant coach Karel Mlejnek also shared a similar view at the press conference. “I dare say the visiting player bears some of the blame. However, of course we wish him to be fit as soon as possible.” Mora’s coaching staff member Petr Svoboda then assured everyone that the Slovenian should be fine. “The doctors told us that he was out for ten, fifteen seconds. But over time he remembered everything, he was conscious. They will keep him in the hospital for a day for observation,” said the coach immediately after the match.
Inconsistency decided, assessed Sedlák
In any case, Mandáta did not miss the penalty until the end of the game and the Moravian team played a five-minute overtime. He scored once during it. Subsequently, the East Bohemians were even weakened by three against five, yet Lukáš Sedlák had a great chance in this disadvantage. “I ran and if I had scored, the game might have turned out differently. In the end, we defended the long power play quite well, but it was simply our inconsistency that decided today.”
“The doctors told us he was out for ten, fifteen seconds.”
Karel Plášek also punished this with an equalizing goal to make it 3:3 in the 47th minute. Nevertheless, Dynamo once again took the lead, precisely with Sedlák’s goal. However, Mora immediately answered her with Orsava’s hit. “The goal at 4:3 probably slowed us down for a while. But I would say that in the third period it was open for both sides. We knew we had chances, so we went for it. We believed the whole match. And that’s also the reason why we turned it around,” said Fridrich, who then decided in overtime.
“It’s not often won here, so it’s a hugely valuable win.”
“Clearly, we can’t take anything but lessons from the game. We have to look at the videos with all the mistakes we made in the defensive zone and learn from them for the next games,” mentioned Sedlák, once again returning to the lost three-goal disadvantage from the beginning of the contest. “An early 3-0 lead is always such a double-edged sword. It’s about showing tactical maturity and always playing simple. You’re more likely to wait for the opponent’s mistakes because they’re going to press us. We kept making some mistakes in the defensive zone, and that cost us the game.”
“You don’t often win here, so it’s a hugely valuable victory,” Fridrich, on the other hand, did not hide his satisfaction with Olomouc’s triumph in Pardubice. “After that introduction, we actually had nothing to lose. On the contrary, they were then expected to manage the match calmly. So I understand that it must be mentally difficult for them. Today they did not succeed and we are very happy for that,” concluded the scorer of the winning goal.
