The Montilla City Council presented this Monday, in the Municipal Sports Pavilion, the programming of the Christmas Sports Tournaments, an initiative promoted by the Municipal Sports Service that, for the third consecutive year, offers citizens a complete agenda of competitions during these festive dates. In this edition, the programming includes Futsal, 3×3 Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Track Tennis and Paddle tennis tournaments, to which a new petanque championship is added, thus expanding the range of sports disciplines available and meeting the demand of different groups and age groups.
The tournaments will be held over the next few Christmas weeks, with a progressive start from this week and with the bulk of the competitions concentrated from next week, using as the main stage the recently renovated Municipal Sports Pavilion, and other municipal facilities such as the Llano de Jarata Municipal Racquet Center for tennis and paddle tennis events. These activities are also part of the program of events organized to mark the inauguration of the pavilion’s new pavement.
For his part, the Sports delegate, Miguel Sánchez, stressed during the presentation that “Christmas is also sport and it is also health”, highlighting that from the Municipal Sports Service “we continue to support a varied program that encourages healthy lifestyle habits and offers active leisure alternatives during dates in which sports practice is traditionally reduced.”
Dates and prices
Regarding the calendar, the III Men’s Futsal Christmas Cup will be held from December 20, 2025 to January 3, 2026 at the Municipal Sports Pavilion. It is aimed at participants born in 2011 and previous years, with a knockout competition system, and a registration fee of 5 euros per team. The III Men’s Basketball Christmas Cup will take place from December 22 to 30, 2025, also at the Municipal Sports Pavilion. Players born in 2011 and earlier may participate, with a knockout competition system and a registration fee of 5 euros per team.
For its part, the III 3×3 Christmas Volleyball Trophy will be held on December 30, 2025 and January 2, 2026. This competition is aimed at people born in 2012 and earlier, it will be developed through qualifying rounds and has a registration fee of 5 euros per team, with the deadline open until Tuesday, December 23.
As for racquet sports, the Christmas 2025 Tennis and Paddle Tournament will take place at the Llano de Jarata Municipal Racquet Center on December 22, 23 and 26, 2025. The established categories are Absolute Paddle (over 14 years), Minor Tennis (up to 14 years) and Senior Tennis (14 years and older). Registration fees range between 2 and 6 euros, depending on the modality, and the registration period will remain open until Wednesday, December 17. As a novelty, the program incorporates a petanque championship, thus expanding the sports offer and meeting the demand of new groups.
