Noordwijk – Noordwijk’s Monique Velzeboer, together with Erma Rotteveel, is committed to helping Jean d’Amour Ndahiro from Rwanda go to the Para Badminton World Cup. They have started a fundraising campaign.

Velzeboer himself ended up in a wheelchair due to a training accident at short track. She then made a name for herself with her foundation, which she founded together with Rotteveel. She took action for children with disabilities in developing countries. She took photos there and the proceeds went to the Liliane Fund.

Now Velzeboer and Rotteveel are taking action for Jean d’Amour from Rwanda, born with a disability, whom they met in 2003 in a rehabilitation center for children with disabilities in Rwanda. Twenty years later they met again. According to Velzeboer and Rotteveel, d’Amour turned out to be a role model: he works as a prosthetist and is a successful para-athlete.

He qualified for the Para Badminton World Championships, but has no money to travel. That is why a campaign has been started to enable Jean d’Amour Ndahiro’s participation in the World Cup and they have now raised 75% of the necessary costs. Support is still needed for the remaining costs. Click on the link to support d’Amour.
