José Mourinho’s Benfica won 2-0 against SSC Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, three points is not the only thing The Special One takes home. At the press conference, Mourinho says he has received the shirt from Scott McTominay.
“You have a bag with you. Is it a present for one of the journalists?”, Mourinho is asked after the match. “This bag is mine,” counters the Portuguese, who then shares what is in the bag in his own unique way. “Scott McTominay’s shirt. At Manchester United he was in the starting line-up under me, I put Paul Pogba on the bench. Giving his shirt was the least he could do.”
Also at Prime Videoimmediately after the match, McTominay came up. Mourinho and the Scot bumped into each other after the final whistle. “I told him that the boys I let play today in the final phase are my next ‘McTominay’s’. José Neto is seventeen, I let him make his debut. He will make history, believe me.”
Thanks to the victory, Benfica climbs to place 25 in the Champions League. The Portuguese club must rise at least one place in the last two rounds to reach the intermediate round.
