Milan-Sassuolo 2-2: Rossoneri Draw & Bartesaghi Shines

Sassuolo’s celebration for Koné’s goal against Milan

It’s almost psychosis now. There’s nothing to be done: against the newly promoted teams, and in general the lower-ranking teams, Milan just don’t work. Against Sassuolo, a bogeyman for the Rossoneri in recent years, it ended 2-2. A draw full of emotions, with many things to tell: goals, goals disallowed, chances, a post, comebacks and counter-comebacks. Koné puts the Emilians ahead before the quarter of an hour, well served by a block from Pinamonti, but then the least expected of all enters the scene: Davide Bartesaghi, who until now had never scored in Serie A and who almost in one fell swoop even scored a brace between the two halves. Finished? Nope. Sassuolo regained courage, were saved by the referees’ whistles (goal disallowed for Pulisic due to a push by Loftus-Cheek on Candé, Rabiot for offside) and in the 77th minute they found the equalizer: Laurienté scored, caught again by Pinamonti. All before Laurienté himself hit the post sensationally with Maignan beaten and Pavlovic collapsed on Cheddira in the area in the 91st minute, provoking protests from the guests. Milan’s final attacks are in vain, Sassuolo snatches a draw. And Napoli and Inter are also smiling, because Allegri’s team temporarily takes first place, but already today they could be overtaken by the Neapolitans and caught up by the Nerazzurri.

The news in 8 key moments

13′ – SASSUOLO GOAL. Splendid action by the neroverdi: Pinamonti blocks and rewards Koné’s insertion into the area, who beats him in front of Maignan with a dig. 0-1.

30′ – Fadera loses a bloody ball near his own area, Rabiot recovers, breaks free and kicks, finding Muric’s rebound. Nkunku resumes, the ball goes back to Rabiot and the shot is blocked almost on the line by Idzes: but at that point the former Chelsea player was offside.

33′ – AC MILAN GOAL. Low cross from Loftus-Cheek, Bartesaghi comes out at the far post and crosses the ball unstoppably behind the innocent Muric. First goal in Serie A for the Rossoneri winger. 1-1.

47′ – AC MILAN GOAL. Nkunku receives the ball with his back to goal and touches it in the area to Bartesaghi, who hits Muric again with his left foot at the near post to score a brace, his first in Serie A. 2-1.

57′ – Pulisic scores into an empty net after a deflection by Muric following a header by Pavlovic, but the goal is disallowed due to a push by Loftus-Cheek towards Candé.

67′ – On the development of a free kick there is a tower from Loftus-Cheek for Rabiot, who deflects from a step into the empty net. However, the Frenchman is in an irregular position: this goal is also cancelled.

77′ – SASSUOLO GOAL. Another block assist from Pinamonti, this time for Laurienté’s entry into the area, and the latter’s unstoppable inside right behind Maignan. 2-2.

88′ – Laurienté starts again with the ball at his feet, does everything alone, kicks from outside with his left foot and hits the post with Maignan beaten. Sensational thrill, Milan is saved.

The social moment

MVP

Davide BARTESAGHI. He runs, fights and from today – so as not to miss anything – he also scores. The product of the Rossoneri academy takes center stage at lunchtime, eating away at the Sassuolo defense on two occasions with a sprint and a lightning-fast finish. A top-level double for a player that Allegri now prefers to Estupinian.

Fantasy football

Promoted – Armand LAURIENTÉ. Devastating entrance. Equalizing goal and post hit late on.

Failed – Alieu FADERA. Lots of errors, almost gives Rabiot a goal. It won’t get much of a rating.
