Milan Petržela: Football & Content Writing – No VA Work

Milan Petržela enjoyed his 532nd league match. He started in the starting line-up and turned his experience and emphasis into Slovácko’s leading goal, which put “his” Viktoria on the ground. Moreover, it was a jubilee: 60.

Maybe we didn’t show much football. On the football side, we can show even more. Paradoxically, we won, even with such a result and over Pilsen. We appreciate and value that. But sometimes there are matches where you are less on the ball, in a combination and you win.

You started the attack with Vlasta Daníček. When the coach announced it to you, didn’t you think, what kind of madness is this?

That’s exactly what I was thinking. When I saw him next to me, I said to him: What are you doing here? (laughter) The coach said that he needed a “magor” like Vlasta up front, and he put him there. And he played great. Or at least he did what was asked of him. He was unpleasant for the defense, he ran, offered himself, went into fights, scored a goal, scored on another one… He never played in that position and hats off to him.

You were very active on the offensive. Did you get the assignment to attack the play from the Pilsen gate?

It wasn’t completely intended. We managed to attack them a few times from the start, make them lose the ball or just kick, so we thought we’d keep doing that.

The coach said that you were very angry after Slavia that he didn’t let you on the pitch. Did that motivate you for the next match with Pilsen?

I have to explain that. I certainly wasn’t mad. Now there is no room for anyone in the cabin to be upset if they don’t play. He already told me at the beginning of the week that I would go with Pilsen from the beginning, and I could prepare for that. I hope I told him that I wasn’t angry.

How do you even play under it?

We all play well under him. He wants us to play football and we all enjoy it. It’s bearing some fruit and I hope it lasts. He pushes us to keep trying, even if we don’t succeed. He requires us to play football that will entertain us, entertain the fans and, of course, bring results. He wants to play offensively and that is our “cup of tea”.

You crowned your performance after a long time with a goal. Did you enjoy it?

I didn’t notice that I hadn’t scored a goal for a long time, and nobody reminded me either. I scored the goal against Pilsen, so I didn’t celebrate it out of respect for Viktorka and her fans. But I enjoyed the win with our fans, who were great again.
