Without tension in the game there are no options for Melilla Ciudad del Deporte
Melilla Ciudad del Deporte visited Club Baloncesto Ourense in the match corresponding to Matchday 11 of the First FEB. The match, played at 7:00 p.m., began with a very focused local team: a triple by Sergi Huguet opened the scoring on the first possession. Melilla responded immediately with a basket from Godspower, but it soon became clear that the lack of defensive intensity was going to take its toll.
Ourense took advantage of the visitor’s disconnection to open the first differences, forcing Garita to request the first timeout at 15-6 near the halfway point of the first quarter. Although Melilla began to see the goal after the break, it was unable to stop the local attack, which caused a new stoppage with 1:47 left after a resounding 26-11 score that reflected Galician superiority. The first act concluded 32-19.

The second quarter began with an exchange of blows, but the local coach, Moncho López, was not satisfied with his team’s attitude and stopped the game at 36-22 after a triple by Darel Poirier a minute and a half from the start. Their players reacted firmly, containing Melilla and extending the lead until they surpassed the 20-point barrier (46-26) after the halfway point of the period. The 24-16 partial took the game to halftime with a clear 56-35.

Melilla came out of the locker room with one more gear and, with two consecutive triples from Poirier and Stumbris, signed a 0-6 start that forced López to call a timeout just 40 seconds after the restart (56-41). However, Ourense responded from the perimeter and kept any comeback attempt at bay. In the middle of the third quarter the score reflected 71-50, a difference that widened to 24 points. After a 24-22 tie, the period closed 80-57.

The last quarter was not a mere formality for Ourense, who ended up breaking the game in the first stages of the final act. After three minutes the scoreboard showed a resounding 89-59, which again led Garita to stop the game. Although Melilla found some offensive fluidity in the final minutes, it never managed to stop the local machine. The gap reached 98-66 with two minutes left and, although the final quarter was 18-18, the match ended with a clear 98-75.
