Mbappé Wins PSG Case: €60M+ Payment Ordered

One month after an eventful industrial tribunal hearing on November 17, the judgment was pronounced this Tuesday in the case between Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappé. The captain of the Blues, who sued PSG due to a financial dispute and demanded unpaid salaries and bonuses at the end of his contract with the club in the summer of 2024, won his case. The Paris industrial tribunal thus ordered PSG to pay nearly 61 million euros, we learned on Tuesday.

“It’s a victory,” proclaims Frédérique Cassereau, one of Kylian Mbappé’s lawyers. The industrial tribunal also announced the provisional execution of the sentence, PSG must therefore pay the sum upon receipt of the judgment.

“A victory for law and respect for commitments”

“This judgment confirms that the commitments made must be respected. It re-establishes a simple truth: even in the professional football industry, labor law applies to everyone,” we read in a press release sent by the player’s counsel. Mr. Mbappé scrupulously respected his sporting and contractual obligations for seven years and until the last day. He tried everything to avoid litigation, going so far as to withdraw a complaint for harassment in the interest of appeasement. In total, he has been requesting payment of his salaries and bonuses for more than 18 months. »

“This decision marks an important step, beyond his personal case, for all players and employees in the sector. This is a victory for law and respect for commitments, not a conflict of people,” they continue.

The Real Madrid striker’s advice demanded 263 million euros on the basis in particular of a reclassification of his contract from CDD (fixed-term contract) to CDI (indefinite-term). To reach this sum, the Mbappé clan denounced, among other things, dismissal without cause (44.6 million euros), moral harassment and hidden work (twice 37.5 million euros) or even unfair execution of the employment contract (19 million euros).

At the center of the debates were also the unpaid salaries and bonuses at the end of the contract in the summer of 2024 of the star, now at Real Madrid, for an amount of 55 million euros. It was Kylian Mbappé who, after having sought in vain to obtain them before the sporting authorities, had taken PSG before the industrial tribunal.

Rejected, the capital club opted for a counter-attack strategy with 440 million euros claimed: 20 million for damage to the image, 60 million for bad faith in the execution of an agreement dated August 2023, 180 million for the concealment of this agreement and 180 million for loss of chance to transfer the player.
