Mbappé & PSG: Account Seizure Lifted – Court Ruling

The cancellation of the precautionary seizure of 55 million euros on the PSG accounts obtained in April by Kylian Mbappé as part of the financial dispute between the two parties was confirmed by the Paris Court of Appeal, sources close to the matter told AFP.

This seizure obtained in April by the Real Madrid striker was canceled on May 26 by the courts. The judge responsible for the execution of sentences at the Paris Judicial Court had ordered “the release of precautionary seizures” on three club accounts.

In the process, Kylian Mbappé’s lawyers appealed this cancellation. But on December 9, the Paris Court of Appeal confirmed this cancellation of the protective seizure of 55 million euros, indicated three sources close to the case, confirming information from RMC.

“For the second time, the courts confirmed the lack of basis for Mr. Mbappé’s requests relating to the seizures he had made on the Club’s accounts last April. Fundamentally, this entire dispute is simply a question of good faith, maintaining values and respecting commitments made,” reacted club lawyer Renaud Semerdjian.

Another decision expected Tuesday

Kylian Mbappé, free to join Real Madrid during the summer of 2024, is demanding 55 million euros in unpaid bonuses and salaries. He had obtained the right to carry out a precautionary seizure to the tune of some 55 million euros, while awaiting decisions in other procedures. The precautionary seizure could in fact only be carried out on 14 million euros.

The two camps fought for a long time before the sporting authorities, who said they were unable to enforce their decisions favorable to the player, due to an orientation hearing requested by the club before the Paris Judicial Court. This has been postponed to February 23.

Contacted on Saturday by AFP, the entourage of the captain of the Blues did not respond immediately. This decision from the Court of Appeal arrives a few days before the meeting this Tuesday, December 16 before the industrial tribunal which will deliver its judgment after the November hearing, where Mbappé claimed 263 million euros and PSG 440 million in return.

PSG assures that the two parties had reached a verbal agreement during the summer of 2023, stipulating that the player, called upon to leave without transfer compensation, gave up approximately part of the sums due at the end of his contract to preserve the financial health of the club. A “fantasy”, according to the Mbappé camp, which affirms that there was no agreement in August 2023.
