Matilda Nildén leaves BK Häcken after two years. The winger is sold to Tottenham Hotspur and thus takes the step to the English top league.
– I really feel that everyone has meant so much. The hedge has felt like home to me, she says.
Matilda Nildén joined BK Häcken in 2024 from AIK in Elitettan. During her two years in BK Häcken, she quickly established herself as an important player and was noted for a total of 77 games, 16 goals and 19 assists in the yellow and black match shirt. And out of many memorable moments, one stands out a little extra.
– I have to say when we took home the SM gold in Stockholm. I am so proud and grateful that we did it. Since then there have been games in both the Champions League and the European Cup and it has been a lot of fun, she says.
Felt like home
The farewell from the club has been emotional after two intense years of sporting success and personal development.
– I didn’t think it would be so emotional to take the step from Häcken. I really feel that everyone has meant so much, the teammates, the leaders and the people around. It’s a nice feeling to come to training and feel at home, says Nildén.
In addition to the successes at club level, Matilda Nildén has also taken clear steps in the national team environment. During the time in BK Häcken, she has gone from playing in the U19 national team to establishing herself in the U23 national team. At the same time, she has gained international experience.
Now the next chapter in her career awaits when the move goes to London and Tottenham Hotspur, where she is reunited with former teammate Josefine Rybrink and older sister Amanda Nildén.
– I am both nervous and full of anticipation, says the 21-year-old. It’s scary, of course, but I’m incredibly excited and excited about what it has to offer.
Successful example of BK Häcken’s strategy
The sale of Matilda Nildén exemplifies BK Häcken’s ambition to connect promising players, give them good opportunities to develop – and to take the next step, says BK Häcken’s football manager Martin Ericsson.
– It has been a nice development where we make an investment in a young player who is now sold to one of the biggest leagues. This year, Matilda has received more and more playing time and has been a loyal and important part in changing matches and maintaining a high level in it. She is an ambitious person with great drive and will so you understand this next step.
In conclusion, Matilda Nildén extends a warm thank you to BK Häcken’s supporters after her years at the club.
– Thank you for the incredible support. Everyone is wonderful and I really hope that the support we have had this year continues next year. And I hope we’ll see each other again at the Nordic Wellness Arena, she says.
