Man Utd Loss: Premier League Thriller & Setback

As of: December 15, 2025 11:20 p.m

Manchester United suffered a setback in the fight for the premier class. In the Premier League there was on Monday evening (December 15th, 2025). AFC Bournemouth Despite leading three times, there was only one draw – but a most spectacular one with eight goals: the score was 4-4 at the final whistle.

Christian Hornung

Amad Diallo had put United 1-0 ahead in the 13th minute, and Antoine Semenyo was eliminated five minutes before half-time. In stoppage time in the first half, Casemiro made it 2-1. But after the break, the guests turned up the heat: Evanilson equalized 40 seconds after the restart, and Marcus Tavernier made it 3-2 for the southern English team in the 52nd minute. Bruno Fernandes made it 3:3 13 minutes before the end with a wonderful free kick into the corner. In the 79th minute, Matheus Cunha made it 4-3 for United. But Bournemouth found a final answer through Eli Kroupi (84th).

United initially sets the pace

At the start of the game, United clearly set the pace. Bournemouth were just running behind and quickly lost out in tackles, possession and shots on goal. Amad’s lead came logically, and Matheus Cunha could have set the course for a relaxed evening for coach Rúben Amorim in the 20th minute, but narrowly failed.

No game for the coaches: Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola (l.) and Ruben Amorim probably didn’t like the four goals each conceded.

Afterwards the host had to go to… Old Trafford but let yourself be accused of taking your foot off the accelerator unnecessarily. Bournemouth came into the game increasingly stronger, launched dangerous counterattacks and benefited from extremely weak tackling from Luke Shaw when Semenyo equalized.

First Casemiro, then Bournemouth with a double strike

Even the new lead through Casemiro’s header no longer brought lasting security; after the break, the momentum suddenly shifted with force to the guests’ side. First Evanilson, then seven minutes later Tavernier with a free kick curled halfway around the wall took advantage of United’s passivity in this phase.

But that wasn’t the last twist in this spectacular game. Bournemouth certainly had a chance of getting the preliminary decision with more consistent counterattacks. But thanks to a stroke of genius from Bruno Fernandes, who celebrated a free kick from half left from 20 meters into the right corner, United equalized to make it 3-3.

Bruno Fernandes temporarily silences the celebrating block of guests.

The game didn’t deserve a loser

When ex-Leipziger Cunha made it 4-3 two minutes later, the favorite seemed to prevail, but anything remained possible that evening: Eli Kroupi used a pass from Alex Jiménez to equalize again. Afterwards, both teams pushed for victory and also had chances – but ultimately this great football battle didn’t deserve a loser.
