The Kansas City Chiefs have suffered another setback in the race for a playoff spot in the American football league NFL.

The team around quarterback star Patrick Mahomes, weakened by injuries and failures, lost 10:20 at home against Houston Texas and now has six wins and seven defeats. This is the worst record after 13 games since 2012.

Mahomes didn’t pass for a touchdown and suffered three turnovers, one in the final period when Kansas City still had a chance to equalize. “This is a good football team,” he said of winners Houston. “But we had opportunities and didn’t take advantage of them at the right time to win the game.”

On the way to the Super Bowl final, the Chiefs prevailed against the Texans last season. Since 2020, Kansas City has appeared in the final five times and lifted the trophy three times. “We still have a chance, even if it’s a small chance,” defensive tackle Chris Jones said. “The door is still open for us.”

Denver continues to extend its winning streak

The Denver Broncos, against whom Kansas City still has to play, recorded their tenth win in a row with a 24:17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Quarterback Bo Nix threw passes for 212 yards and scored a touchdown himself. For the Broncos, it was their eleventh win of the season with only two losses. Las Vegas quarterback Geno Smith left the field in the third quarter due to injuries to his right hand and shoulder.
