In his speech, Chen Hongbin pointed out that with the changes of the times, cars have become the main means of transportation, and people gradually no longer set foot in the old town of Muar, and many local characteristics and cultures have been ignored.

He believes that it is necessary for the education system to restore the teaching element of “local history” so that students can understand the culture and history of their hometown and the land where they grew up from an early age, so that they can cultivate a sense of belonging and emotional concern for their hometown. Otherwise, the memory of their hometown will gradually become blurred, and when they grow up, they will leave their hometown due to work and economic factors, making it difficult to give back to their hometown.

He pointed out that in the past two years, he has continuously promoted urban guided tours with the purpose of letting foreign tourists understand Muar, and allowing Muar people, especially the younger generation, to re-understand this charming town and rediscover the beauty of their hometown.

He said that in the future, he will live up to everyone’s expectations, continue to drive local and economic development, do his part for his hometown, and inject more vitality into Muar.
