And the rest will not be better at first, with a draw conceded against PSV Eindhoven, and two new defeats against Atlético Madrid and Bayern, which virtually eliminates PSG.
But the Asturian technician has always remained sure of his strengths, as he hammered home in October. “Last year, we were competitive and this year, we are going to be competitive again,” he assured against all odds. 14 months later, the world of football is unanimous: Luis Enrique was (almost) not wrong. PSG won the Champions Trophy, Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, the UEFA Super Cup, the Intercontinental Cup and above all the first Champions League in its history.
The only downside is the heavy defeat of the Spanish coach’s men in the Club World Cup final against Chelsea this summer (3-0). This is the only trophy missed by the Parisians in 2025, who still lifted six. It will be complicated to do better in 2026, but you never know: Luis Enrique has more than one trick up his sleeve.
