In terms of sport, 2025 not only had highlights for Lotte Kopecky, but also doubts and difficult moments. Yet the two-time world champion ends the year with a broad smile. Not thanks to new rainbow jerseys, but because of what she found next to the bike: stability, peace and love. “There is someone I can rely on. That makes a big difference.”

Loneliness
While Kopecky still spoke openly about a feeling of loneliness at the end of 2024, she sounds very different today. “Things are a lot better now with that loneliness”; she says in her end-of-year interview with Sporza. “I wasn’t in a relationship then, that’s different now. I don’t come home alone anymore.” On a personal level, the Belgian champion shines more than ever.

Kopecky is discreet about her new relationship, but certainly not secretive. “It’s only a matter of time before the media starts talking about it,” she laughs. “We just decided not to make an Instagram post about it.” Being seen together is no problem. “If people speak to us, that’s fine. We’re just happy this way.”
According to Kopecky, her relationship does not have to become a media story, but she is not ashamed of it either. “It’s okay, it’s no problem,” she emphasizes. More important to her than falling in love are the peace and stability she now experiences. “Being in love is nice, but stability in particular greatly improves your performance.”
Butterflies
That mental peace can also pay off sportingly towards 2026. “There is someone who also shares the difficult moments,” says Kopecky. “That’s more important than butterflies in your stomach.” Those butterflies are there, she laughs, “but I haven’t raced with them much yet.”
At the age of thirty, Kopecky clearly feels stronger in life. “I have life experience and stability. It is only now beginning in many areas.” She isn’t thinking about quitting for the time being. She is still under contract until 2028, but is keeping all options open. “There are other things in life,” she concludes with a smile. “Like… life.”
