The Christmas bells are already beginning to be heard and the Cultural Association ‘La Aceña’ is ready for the new Living Nativity campaign; a dramatization that, on its twenty-fifth anniversary, has fulfilled the dream of being declared a Site of Regional Tourist Interest, and is going to celebrate it with a “special” edition that comes loaded with “important new features and renovations.”
The president of the group, Antolín Fernández, explains that this recognition is “an award for the work we have been doing all these years.” “For us it is something very important, but also for Laguna, since having a party that has this declaration gives a lot of publicity and interest to the municipality for those who want to visit us these days, with what this entails.” Thus, he anticipates that the celebration of this proclamation is accompanied by “very relevant changes”, but he does not want to ruin the surprise of the fans and prefers to keep the news a secret to reveal them at the last moment, although he does point out that the modifications are related to the set and the script, and seek to “make the Nativity scene more pleasant and beautiful.” “We try to make some changes every year to engage the public and the actors themselves, but this year with even more reason.”
As for the performances, he explains that there will again be seven, in addition to the general rehearsal with the public. In this sense, he states that the latter will take place on the 21st at 7:00 p.m., and will be followed by the performances on December 25 and 27 at 7:00 p.m.; They will continue with the children’s performances on December 28 at 1:00 p.m. and January 3 at 7:00 p.m.; and in the final stretch they will perform on the 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the parade with the adoration of the Three Wise Men, and on Three Kings’ Day at 6:45 p.m. with the last performance.
He comments that, once again, they are “betting” on the double children’s performance, since “children are our quarry and the future of the Living Nativity Scene, and each year this representation has a larger audience. This is the eleventh edition of the Children’s Nativity Scene and we want to continue growing with them in the following years.” Likewise, Antolín warns that, given the new declaration of Asset of Regional Tourist Interest, they expect more influx of visitors, and comments that, if it continues to grow, the approach for future editions will be to expand the number of actions. Until then, he invites residents from all over the province and surrounding areas to come to Laguna on these dates and “enjoy a performance that will not leave anyone indifferent.”
