The Latvian Sports Veterans – Seniors Union (LSVS) has announced the recipients of the 2025 awards, and among them are several athletes and sports workers from Līvāni region.
LSVS medal “Sports slava” 1st degree for high-value achievements in the athletics old masters movement and significant contribution to the sports life of Latvia and Līvāni region was awarded to Mārīte Vilcāne, who represents the Līvāni region athletics club and works at the Līvāni Children and Youth Sports School.
LSVS medal “Sports slava” II grade awarded to Jānis Mankovskis for high achievements in old masters competitions, regular participation in European and world championships, as well as for Latvian records set in 2025 in the V85+ age group in several disciplines.
On the other hand, the LSVS medal “Sporta slava” III grade was awarded to Anna Zvirbule for versatile volunteer work, longevity in athletics and contribution to the development of sports in Līvāni region. Jānis Magdaļenoks also received a bronze medal for his professionalism in capturing sports events and support for the development and recognition of Livani sports, as well as Jānis Klažs for his long-term work in managing the men’s volleyball team of Livani region and his contribution to the development of the sports industry.
Jānis Ludāns was honored with the LSVS “Badge of Honor” award for his long years in athletics, his significant contribution to the development of sports in Līvāni region and the cultivation of sports traditions.
The LSVS “Laureates 2025” list also includes the athletes representing Livani region, Jānis Mankovskis, Jānis Ludāns and Mārīte Vilcāne, for their high achievements in international competitions.
Successes were also achieved in the evaluation of teams – in the evaluation of regions of LSVS 62nd sports games (group II), Līvānu region won the third place.
