Lieshout – The badminton players of Badminton Club Lieshout have kicked off the busy month of December with a fun, cozy and busy Saint Nicholas tournament. Both youth and seniors actively played for gingerbread nuts and there were pleasant soot sweeping Petes present. Later in the month the badminton players will repeat such a tournament, but then they will play for Christmas treats. In this way, the association occasionally organizes the weekly play evening in a different, fun way.
Badminton Club Lieshout is an association that cannot sit still. Whenever there is a current reason, the association picks it up and turns it into something fun. This also applies to the recent visit of Sinterklaas and his servants to the country. The soot sweeping Petes were active, cheerful and conspicuous among both youth and seniors. They played along with both groups and created an extra cozy Sinterklaas atmosphere. The gingerbread nuts that had to be played for were also a nice addition to the evening.
Now that Sinterklaas has left for home with his entire entourage, it is time for the next theme: Christmas. Badminton Club Lieshout annually holds the Frans Biemans Christmas Ball Tournament on the occasion of this celebration. This is also a theme tournament that is played with the members present, both youth and seniors. They can play for delicious Christmas treats during the tournament. As a backdrop, namesake and Santa Claus Frans Biemans will be present in full regalia to herald the rounds to be played with lots of Jo-hoos and fanfare.
After the Christmas tournament, the Lieshout badminton players can put their rackets away for a while. Due to the school holidays, the Klumper sports hall is closed for a few weeks and badminton is not possible. In addition, this year the Wednesday evenings will fall on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve: two evenings where sports are not the priority. The badminton players will be active again on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. They will then start with a nice New Year’s drink in the canteen of the sports hall.
