38 of the 47 teams that will compete in the Copa Libertadores-2026 are already known.
Five of them will debut in the biggest South American tournament.

👀 Division of the 47 vacancies
Brazil was entitled to five places in the group stage and two in the second preliminary round.
But he now has six direct places thanks to the Libertadores title.
Argentina would have five teams in the group stage and one in the second preliminary round.
But there was also another direct vacancy after Lanús took the Sul-Americana.
Chile and Colombia will have two teams in the group stage and two in the second preliminary round.
Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela will guarantee two teams in the prime phase, one in the second preliminary phase and one in the first.
There’s a lot left to define…
Nine vacancies still need to be filled.
There are three for Chilean football, two for Colombian football and one for Argentina, Brazil, Bolívar and Ecuador.
The question mark in Brazilian football will be resolved with the Copa do Brasil.
Cruzeiro x Corinthians and Fluminense x Vasco make up the tournament semis. Raposa and Tricolor are already guaranteed in Liberta via Brasileirão.
If one of them wins the BR Cup, the eighth-placed team from BR will also compete in the South American tournament.
In Argentina, River Plate is rooting for its biggest rival to be the country’s representative in the second preliminary phase.
Boca Juniors is the only Clausura semi-finalist already confirmed in Liberta via the overall campaign – the 2nd best.
They will face Racing in one of the semis. Estudiantes and Gimnasia LP do the other. Trio fighting for the cup to play in the biggest South American competition in 2026.
The newcomers 🤩
O Mirassol guaranteed his place thanks to his historic campaign in the Brasileirão.
The first Argentine team to qualify was Platense after winning the Apertura.
The second was the Independent Rivadavia for winning the Argentine Cup.
Surprise in Uruguay, the Youth de Las Piedras secured its place after having the second best campaign of the year without counting the finalists.
The Paraguayan May 2 goes to the Libertadores after being runner-up in the Paraguayan Cup. General Caballero took the title, but was relegated in the league and, as a result, was left out of the tournament.
