Levante-Villarreal which was to be played this Sunday afternoon, starting at 6:30 p.m. has been postponed due to the forecast of bad weather conditions. After the meeting that took place this morning at the Cecopi and the conversations between the clubs and LaLiga, the Single Competition Judge of the RFEF has decided to postpone the match that was going to be played at the Ciutat de Valencia.
The date being considered for holding the meeting is that of January 7in the week in which the Spanish Super Cup will be played. Levante and Villarreal have those dates ‘free’ and hence that option has been put on the table, so that the match can be played as soon as possible, although it is not yet official.
Both Civil Protection, which had warned of the risk of floods, like the mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, who had sent a formal letter requesting the postponementthey had directly questioned the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, so that the match would not be played this Sunday.
Ultimately, it won’t be like that. Heavy, torrential rains are expected in the region today. AEMET raised the alert to red for the next few hours, with an official warning that begins at 12:00 this Sunday. The agency warned of “risk of flooding on the north and south coast of Valencia due to heavy rains.” It was indicated to avoid unnecessary travel and transit through areas at risk of flooding.

The clubs were waiting for official notification from LaLiga, while on Saturday afternoon they had been informed by the authorities of the request to the competition for the match not to be played to avoid unnecessary risks. The date on which the match will take place now remains to be specified, to complete the sixteenth day of the championship.
