PHILADELPHIA (AP) — LeBron James hit a decisive three-pointer in the final moments and scored 29 points, Luka Doncic had a triple-double and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Philadelphia 76ers 112-108 on Sunday night.
Joel Embiid, who had a terrible night for the 76ers, hit an 18-footer that tied the score at 105. James immediately responded with a 3-pointer with 1:12 left to take the lead and added a 20-footer on the next possession to make the score 110-105.
Doncic finished with 31 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists.
Tyrese Maxey led Philadelphia with 28 points. Embiid missed 17 of 21 shots and scored 16 points.
Doncic, the NBA’s leading scorer, missed the final two games while traveling to Slovenia, where his fiancée gave birth to their daughter. James sat out Friday night against Boston because of sciatica, which kept him sidelined for the first 14 games of this season, and arthritis in the joint in his left foot.
Embiid has dealt with several knee injuries this season, but he was not willing to miss this game against James, his gold medalist teammate at the 2024 Paris Games, and the Lakers. Embiid missed 10 of 11 shots in the first half, but was 6 of 6 from the free throw line.
