La Garnache Archery: 163 Archers Compete

Saturday December 6 and Sunday December 7, the Garna’Archers club organized an indoor archery competition, at the Terre de Sports complex, in La Garnache (Vendée). 163 archers competed over three starts.

They came from clubs in Vendée, Brittany, Loire-Atlantique, Deux-Sèvres and the archers club of Ruelle-sur-Touvre, in Charente. The latter presented Julie Chupin, international disabled athlete in compound arch, who arrived 6e at the Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024 and which is preparing for those in Los Angeles in 2028. We had two archers in wheelchairs, two visually impaired archers and an archer with only one arm underlined Marina Chiron, president of the Garna’Archers.

18 Garna’Archers competitors

The Garna’Archers club has 53 members, 18 of whom participated in the competition. We continue to grow in number of archers noted the president.

For this indoor event, on targets at 18 meters, everyone had the choice of their bow: classic, barebow, compound or traditional old-fashioned wooden bow. Some of the 22 targets were loaned by the Vendée committee.

The awards ceremony took place around 6 p.m., starting with the disabled sports medals followed by those of the first three by age section, gender, arch and team.

The Garna’Archers club is preparing the regional adult archery championship, which will take place in La Garnache on February 7 and 8, 2026.
