Toni Kroos would be in that team for many, but the German was left out of what he considers the best possible eleven in the entire history of football. With youth idols and many rivals and teammates, the German chose those he considered would form what would be the most fearsome team of all time.
Under the caption “Opinions?”, coach Toni opted for Neuer in goal. Although he has played with legends like Iker Casillas or Thibaut Courtois at Real Madrid, the midfielder preferred to field the man who was his goalkeeper both at Bayern and in Germany. Together they were world and European champions between the national team and the Bavarian club. Between the U-21, the senior team and the Munich team, they shared the grass on 221 occasions, including the Germany-Spain match in which Toni hung up his boots.
Defense: a legend and three former teammates
Paolo Maldini is the ‘captain’ of this defense where he joins three former teammates of Kroos: Lahm, Ramos and Marcelo. The Italian, an absolute legend in the 90s, is one of the few players with whom he did not coincide either as a teammate or as a rival in this eleven.
The Brazilian and the Spanish occupy the left half. With both of them behind him, he lifted the Champions League and dominated European football for several seasons. Two of his most powerful former teammates from Real Madrid’s last winning cycle in Europe.
Phillip Lahm comes in as the big right back. Teammate both in Munich and in Germany and sometimes undervalued by public opinion, but not by his former teammate.
Everything on the attack
Although he played with Carlos Henrique Casemiro and had players like Sergio Busquets, Toni Kroos bets in his eleven on the most offensive variant with a double pivot with a midfielder, two wingers and a forward.
In the center of the field, his coach and white legend, Zinedine Zidane. The Marseille native enters as another of the legends with whom he did not share the pitch in an official match, although he is the coach who has fielded him the most times in his career (209) above Ancelotti (200), Heynckes (123) and Guardiola (51). TOZidane’s side, on his eternal partner, Luka Modric. The Croatian is the second player with whom the German has played the most games, only surpassed by Karim Benzema (343). Their partnership is considered among the best in the history of football, although it does not shine in this eleven.
Ahead, one of his great rivals, Leo Messi. They faced the Argentine 22 times, even winning a World Cup final against him. Even so, his consideration is maximum until he enters that eleven playing for his greatest rival for years, Barcelona.
