It’s official: the new 18 meter indoor archery world record is from San Marino. World Archery has confirmed the record established by Kristina Pruccoli on Saturday, December 6 at the Northern Region Indoor Championship in Michigan, by 557 points out of 600 possible.
Precision and consistency were the weapons of the San Marino American, who in the first 10 volleys scored 278 points and in the second 10 she rose to 279. Two almost identical halves, but that extra point, in the second, allowed her to beat the previous world record belonging to the Italian Cinzia Noziglia556 points, and recorded at the 2024 European Indoor Championships, where Pruccoli managed to beat her in the final stages to take the continental title.
With this record, the San Marino athlete puts behind her those who to date have proven to be the three strongest female barebow archers in history, probably in order: Noziglia, the Swedish Lina Bjorklundauthor of the record broken by the Italian last year (552 points), and the American Fawn Girardwhich in 2022 obtained 550. Furthermore, Pruccoli also took the U.S. national record in the 18-meter double roundcon 1082.
