The International Ski Federation (FIS) has authorized the World Cup giant slalom and women’s slalom events to take place in Kranjska Gora. The skiers will compete on the Podkoren slope on January 3 and 4.
The organizers of the Kranjska Gora competition have once again triumphed over time and bad weather by preparing a layer of quality snow thick enough to allow skiers to compete. “With a thickness of half a meter or more, it is ideal for high-level competition,” reports the STA agency.
Organizers are hoping that the weather will be good with low temperatures expected during the last week before the competition and that early January will provide a true winter fairy tale.
Due to recurring snow problems, the FIS removed Mariborsko Pohorje from the list of World Cup competition venues. In January 2024, the last edition of the World Cup, called “Golden Fox”, took place in Kranjska Gora, on the occasion of its 60th anniversary.
Kranjska Gora enjoys an excellent reputation and trust as an organizer of the Alpine Skiing World Cup. Slovenian organizers have received a guarantee from the international federation to organize very high-level competitions for the next eight years.
