After Bayern Munich’s 3-1 victory against Sporting Lisbon, Vincent Kompany spoke to the Playsport cameras. Sport quickly became secondary to the terrible news of the death of Glen De Boeck.
Kompany reacted with emotion to the sudden death of Glen De Boeck, his former teammate at Anderlecht. He learned the news not from the media, but from Belgian colleagues in Munich.
“They were the ones who told me the news. It’s so sad, sad for his family,” Kompany said, visibly upset.
He highlighted De Boeck’s impact at Anderlecht, both on and off the pitch. “He is someone who meant a lot to the club and who left us far too young.”

The Bayern coach highlighted the fragility of life and how suddenly everything can change. The news of the death affected him deeply.
“It’s a reminder that we have to make the most of every moment, if even people like Glen leave us at this age… It’s very sad,” concluded Kompany, still visibly moved by the loss of his former teammate.
