Knicks NBA Cup Win: Spurs Defeated

The New York Knicks won the third edition of the NBA Cup by defeating the San Antonio Spurs 124 to 113 on Tuesday evening in the grand final.

OG Anunoby led the Knicks with 28 points and Jalen Brunson followed closely with 25.

Away from the Knicks’ starting five, Jordan Clarkson (15 points) and Mitchell Robinson (15 rebounds) however gave a big helping hand to the Knicks’ big guns in this final.

The Spurs, in front during the second and third quarters, never managed to create a significant gap before collapsing in the fourth quarter, losing 35 to 19.

After a month of absence due to a calf injury, Victor Wembanyama returned to action on Saturday for a brilliant semi-final against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the best team in the NBA.

“Wemby” was a little less visible than in the semi-final and ended this duel against the Knicks with 18 points. The Frenchman will have to wait to win a first collective trophy in the NBA.

The Knicks succeed the Milwaukee Bucks, who won the second edition last year.

More details to come.
