Julia Simon: Back in Form After Suspension – Trainer Update

Julia Simon will return to competition in Hochfilzen this Friday after a month of suspension. She is “already in the right tempo” announces her trainer.

“In terms of physical commitment, it was already at the right pace”underlined the coach of the French biathlon team Cyril Burdet about Julia Simon, who is making her return to competition this weekend in Hochfilzen (Austria) after her month of suspension.

After a month of suspension from November 7 (i.e. for the opening of the World Cup in Ostersund), Julia Simon trained for around ten days on roller skis in La Féclaz, before moving onto the snow in Les Saisies.

In Hochfilzen, she returned to the French team this week, with a sprint on Friday, a relay on Saturday and a pursuit on Sunday for the 2nd stage of the World Cup circuit.

“We did two training sessions, the first was quiet, so there was no real lesson to learn. On the other hand, today the idea was to work on the running pace”Cyril Burdet said on Thursday after a session which lasted a good hour and a half on the Austrian site.

“There are two or three small adjustments more of a technical nature to adapt to this very soft snow, but otherwise in terms of physical commitment it was already at the right pace”added Burdet.

“That was one of the questions before considering his sporting return, assessing his physical state. I was able to have access to videos on certain specific sessions that she had on the program, to see that visually on the skis, I had the feeling that it was going quickly and that it was in the right rhythm.estimated Burdet, in charge of the athletic part.

“Afterwards, as always at the start of the season, we will have to see tomorrow with the bib on our back and the confrontation of the others. She was determined to put the bib back on, to do what she loves, that is to say sport and biathlon, and then obviously things will gradually get back into place”specified Burdet.
