As a 16-year-old Joel Allansson took the step over from the parent club Nybro IF to IFK Göteborg. In 2011, he received an A-team contract in 2011 and debuted in the Allsvenskan the following year.
Before 2015, he left to play in Danish Randers FC. After four seasons with the Danes, he took the step over to HBK. He immediately became a regular as a midfielder and was involved in playing HBK in the Allsvenskan in autumn 2020.
There was only one season in the highest league when HBK went out in the qualifiers against Helsingborgs IF. Back in the Superettan in 2022, he missed the start due to injury, but when he came back, he had a more offensive role in the team. This led to him scoring more goals than before and several of these were dream goals.
During 2023, he was a substitute in a few matches in the Allsvenskan but usually played from the start. Lost his starting spot a bit in 2024 but came back and was regular at the end of the season.
He became team captain after Andreas Johansson before 2025 when he was again a stable cog in the midfield and played all the matches.
Allansson has not yet scored an Allsvenskan goal for HBK but still has the chance when he has now extended his contract.
