SASSUOLO – AC Milan is reportedly actively looking for a new central defender to strengthen their defense sector ahead of the winter transfer market. After previously reportedly being interested in the Indonesian national team player, Jay Idzes, now the management of the Rossoneri – AC Milan’s nickname – has also turned serious attention to Idzes’ teammate at Sassuolo, Tarik Muharemovic.

Milan’s interest in Muharemovic clearly has the potential to thwart Jay Idzes’ chances of joining the team nicknamed the Rossoneri.

1. Mainstay duet at the heart of Sassuolo’s defense

Tarik Muharemovic is a defender from Slovenia who is Jay Idzes’ partner at the heart of the Neroverdi defense – Sassuolo’s nickname. The duet of Idzes and Muharemovic is known to have created a solid defense line and is something to be reckoned with in the Italian League.

Before AC Milan showed interest, several top Italian clubs such as Juventus and Napoli were also eyeing Tarik Muharemovic. However, a report from Tuttomercatoweb shows that AC Milan’s interest is much more serious. They even sent representatives to directly monitor the player’s actions.

“The list of interest in Sassuolo defender, Tarik Muharemovic, continues to grow. This central defender is one of the key players in the Neroverdi surprise package,” wrote the Tuttomercatoweb report, quoted on Wednesday (10/12/2025).

2. Milan Sends Talent Scouts to Monitor Directly

AC Milan’s serious interest was proven when they sent scouts to watch Sassuolo’s match against Fiorentina on Saturday afternoon. Muharemovic is the main target being monitored.
