Italian Football: Points Deduction & Serie A Shake-Up

A real defeat for the Italian club. The resolution is clear: 5 penalty points. The ranking for the company is reversed

After the week dedicated to the Italian Cup and the numerous commitments that see the big names involved in the championship, European competitions and, in a few days, also the Italian Super Cup, which will have Milan, Inter, Bologna and Napoli as protagonists, the Italian football has been shaken by news that has generated real chaos. A team, in fact, was hit by one five point penaltya decision that inevitably has turned the table upside down and affected the balance of the reference championship.

A heavy sanction, with the management and the environment now called to deal with an unexpected situation and destabilizingso the club will have to try to recover as soon as possible.

Chaos in Italian football: the club suffers a 5-point penalty

At the center of the spotlight for this story is the Ternanacurrently playing in Serie C, group B. The National Federal Court, Disciplinary Section, has in fact decided to inflict a five-point penalty on the Umbrian club in the standingsto be served in the current season. The sanction is linked to violations of an administrative naturefor which the company was held responsible.

In addition to the sporting penalty, theStefano D’Alessandro’s four-month bansole director of the club at the time of the events. Following this decision, the team coached by Fabio Liverans drops from seventh to twelfth place, awaiting the final results of the day, significantly changing the current ranking.

Already last October 7, the Disciplinary Section of the National Federal Court had referred the Umbrian club following reports from Co.Vi.So.C. for administrative irregularities. Now Ternana will have to deal with the consequences of this penalty, trying to recover lost points as soon as possible on the field to prevent the situation from worsening further during the season.

After having obtained the pass for the quarter-finals of Italian Serie C Cup against Union Brescia with a clear 4-1, Ternana was able to smile and managed to continue its journey up to the semi-finals, where it will face Power. News that inevitably brought a smile back to the rossoverde home, especially for the team led by Fabio Liverani, fresh from a period swinging but in which it has often managed to impose itself in the championship.

However, the five-point penalty represents a real one tile for a team that, in the last few games, was gradually climbing up the table after a complicated start to the seasondespite the defeat suffered at the end of November against Guidonia Montecelio.

The Ternana route therefore remains uphill: Liverani’s boys will now be called to react on the pitch, trying to recover as many points as possible to put a season that is becoming increasingly complex back into balance.
