New feat of the young athlete from Orio Tarragona Martin Iriondo Lizaso (02-09-2006) last Saturday when he broke the Spanish record of the 5,000 … meters of the sub 20 category in the test held on the Boston University indoor track.
Wearing the Charleston Southern University shirt, he ran the 5,000 meters in 14:05.96 (1,023 WA points), improving the 14:14.92 he did in Raleigh (North Carolina) on March 27. It is a Spanish indoor track record and an absolute under 20 record for Euskadi, improving Martin Fiz’s 14.13.7, which dated March 11, 1982.
Kamel Ziani has 13:57:50 in the distance of 5,000, but if he continues the same progression, his Oriotar pupil can improve said time. Martin Iriondo plans to arrive home in the middle of next week to spend Christmas.
