The day before yesterday, at School No. 95 “República de Francia”, in Santa Rosa, all the Fuegian judo men placed 1st or 2nd in their sector, qualifying for the semifinals of the 32nd Binational Sports Games of Araucanía “La Pampa 2025”.
RIO GRANDE.- Finally, three of them were eliminated in that instance, and a similar number fell in the decisive fight.
The information only became known in the last hours of Sunday, and that is why we provide it in this edition, along with what happened on Monday with the women’s branch.
Everyone on the podium
Santiago Avellaneda (5 wins and 2 losses) lost the final at -66 kilos with the undefeated Maximiliano Ruiz (Magallanes/7-0), who had already defeated him in Group 2.
At -73 kilos, Emiliano Suárez (6-1, 1st in Group 1) gave up that quality in the last fight, against another Puntarena native, Gabriel Pérez (8-0, 1st in Group 2). Something similar happened in -90 kilos with Benjamín Pesarini (7-1, 1st in Group 2), against Tomás Quinteros from Pampa (7-0, 1st in Group 1).
Likewise, both Fausto Martín (-60 kilos) and Luciano Vargas (-81 kilos) -who closed their time in the qualifying round without any blemish- and Alexis Gamarra (-55 kilos) lost in the semifinals with the future silver medalist in their respective weight division.
After the individual stage, Magallanes leads the standings, with 45 points, the product of 3 titles (first place awards 15 units). It is followed by the local team, with 34 (2 gold, 1 bronze and 5th place); and Tierra del Fuego, with 30, after 3 runners-up and a similar number of third places).
Four with medals
Among women, Nahir Insaurralde won the gold medal in -63 kilos, after beating Pascale Linares, from Araucanía, in the final (15 and 7 points for each of them, respectively), completing the podium with Briana Martínez (Río Negro) and Uma Pérez (Neuquén), who took 3 units for their delegation. Antonia Ortiz (Los Lagos) and Inés Barriada (La Pampa) also added 1 point for finishing fifth.
Lara Segovia placed second in -70 kilos, after falling in the final with Pamela Maripán (Los Lagos). Two other Fuegian women finished third, after losing in the semifinals: Morena Flores, at -48 kilos; and Anyelina González, n -52 kilos. Meanwhile, Agustina Vera was 5th at -57 kilos.
Chubut leads the standings, with 33 points, ahead of Tierra del Fuego (29) and Aysén (24;).
Today will be the turn of the team competition for the men, and the activity will conclude tomorrow, with a similar contest, in the women’s branch.
