This drastic drop in ranking was due to FIFA’s punishment against Malaysia in the form of canceling the results in three tier 1 international test matches or FIFA matchdays.
The three matches in question are: against Cape Verde with a 1-1 result on May 29, Singapore with a 2-1 result on September 4, and against Palestine with a 1-0 result on September 8.
As a result of using illegal players in the three matches, Malaysia was punished to lose 0-3.
Apart from giving 0-3 defeats in three tier 1 matches, FIFA also imposed a fine of 10,000 Swiss francs (equivalent to IDR 209.6 million) on Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Vietnam managed to climb three places from 110th to 107th with a collection of 1189.51 points. Vietnam is the country with the highest increase in position in this FIFA ranking update.
Meanwhile, Thailand experienced a decline in position from 95th to 96th place with 1243.27 points.
Meanwhile, Spain is currently ranked number one in FIFA with a score of 1977.18 points, followed by Argentina in second place and France in third place.
