Indonesia Football: New Coach for National & U-23 Teams

New coach Indonesian National Team seniors will be assigned to simultaneously handle the U-23 National Team. PSSI Still in the process of looking for a replacement Patrick Kluivert.

The position of senior national team and U-23 coach is currently vacant. After removing Kluivert after failure in Round 4 of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications, now it’s his turn Indra Sjafri duty free.

“So from the results we discussed with Ketum (Erick Thohir) and Deputy Heads I and II (Zainudin Amali, Ratu Tisha Destria) and the Exco for the U-23 coach will be one package with the senior national team coach,” said the Chairman of the National Team Agency (BTN) SumardjiTuesday (16/12/2025).

Some time ago a number of PSSI officials just conducted interviews with a number of prospective national team coaches. Regarding this, the federation still insists that it will not divulge the names of prospective coaches interviewed by the federation.

Sumardji emphasized that the new coach for the national team would soon be decided. However, this cannot be done in the near future due to Erick Thohir’s busy schedule as Menpora.

“Hopefully it can be done soon. Mr. Ketum’s current schedule is focused on the SEA Games, some of his friends are still outside,” said Sumardji.

“So, after the SEA Games, we are trying to investigate two potential coaches who, according to the interview report, can be said from the names that are quite suitable to coach the national team. We will update as soon as possible regarding the national team coaches,” he said.
