The last weekend before Christmas meant losses for floorball and basketball. Horisont sums up the past sports weekend.
INDOOR VOLLEYBALL:
Visby IBK couldn’t handle Mullsjö in the battle for the playoff spot in SSL this weekend. The home team Mullsjö led 3–0 after one period. Visby IBK certainly got up to 4–3 after two periods, but in the third it ran away; Mullsjö eventually won 11–4.
Mullsjö thus takes care of eighth place in the table, while Visby IBK is two points and two places behind. The next match is played at home against Nykvarn in the days between.
When the league started again after the World Cup break, it was a difficult start for Change IF who were pitted against strong Pixbo this weekend.
A series of illnesses and injuries meant that the Gotlandians came with a thin squad. 0–3 after the first period became 1–4 after the second; the match ended 2–6.
However, Endre retains sixth place in the table. On December 29, the match will be played again, away to bottom team Växjö.
BASKET:
Given the meager results so far this season, one would have expected a blowout loss for Visby Ladies when the season’s successful team Uppsala, tableless with only two losses in the bag so far, visited Gotland on Friday.
And there was a loss, but “only” by 20 points, 52–72. Ladies started and finished well but lost the two middle periods badly. Nela Netkova was the top scorer with 17 points.
