The El Xabalín archery club organized the I Llanera 3D Indoor Tournament, at the Posada de Llanera municipal sports center, and they also had the collaboration of the City Council. The tournament took place on Sunday, December 7. The president of Xabalín, Luis Carlos Puerta, assured that they have had 88 registered, coming from all over Asturias, Guadalajara and Cantabria, “two shifts were organized, we started at 9 in the morning until 12 and from 12 until 2 in the afternoon, then in the afternoon the elimination rounds for the medals are held, to see who comes first, second and third. We have a layout of 12 streets, in each street We have two proposals for volumetric targets and all the competitors shoot a total of 24 proposals, that is where the ranking is taken to then do the qualifying rounds,” he explained.
Puerta commented that they are delighted to be able to use this facility for the test, “it is fantastic, because it is very large and there is a lot of space to place the proposals, which are the figures of the animals, and the archers can perform their shots without problem,” he stated.
It is the first time that the club organizes an indoor tournament, “It is an absolute success, there is none that has so many people, that is why we are very happy, here in Asturias we are currently the ones that gather the most people. The archers really like the quantity and variety of proposals that we have, how new they are, how well prepared the field is, which required a lot of work, but well there are wooden platforms that simulate different positions of the animals and of course, that is a lot of work, but it looks very attractive later when In addition, we have placed banners with landscapes in the background. Our intention is to organize it every year coinciding with this bridge, so that all the archers can come and enjoy the council,” he noted.
El Xabalín currently has 106 licenses and has been in business for 11 years. They have an outdoor shooting range, close to the Fernando Alonso Museum. “We have a tent for indoor shooting, an open-air field that can be shot up to 70 meters, approved and authorized by Weapons Intervention. We have partners right now in competition, the youngest is Sari, who is 6 years old, and the oldest Juan, who will be 78,” he stated.
