Huesca
The Provincial Sports Gala celebrated its 22nd edition in the Blue Room of the Casino in Huesca. The Huesca Sports Press Association recovered this event after a three-year break and served to reward athletes and clubs that have shone in 2025.
In addition, the president of the APDH, Martín Pena, presented the relatives of Jaime Ferrer and Javier Gironella, president and general secretary of the Association, with a recognition in their memory.
An event in which the gymnast Inés Bergua shone, now a sports reference in the province for her successes with the Spanish rhythmic gymnastics team of which she is the captain. He was accompanied as the best absolute male athlete by the Albeld athlete, Pol Oriach, who has also stood out in 2025 by participating in the World Outdoor Track Championships in athletics in the 1,500 event where he has also achieved great marks in other competitions.
The best promises have fallen on the Barbastro basketball player Marina Mata, who was European champion with Spain in the under-20 category and who plays in the Endesa Women’s League in the Cadí La Seu team, and on the Huesca Badminton player, Alejandro Gállego, who played in the Junior World Cup and has achieved outstanding national successes.
In the club section, Club Patín Esneca Fraga has been awarded for its career in the national and international roller hockey competition, being runners-up in the Intercontinental in Argentina and already this season it has won the Super Cup. The award was collected by its president Albert Piñol.
Other recognitions went to the Zoiti Athletics Club for school and youth sports for Fun Athletics, which was collected by Dani Durán, coordinator of the activity, and the Inclusion Sports award for Sabiñánigo Archers which was also collected by Juan Carlos Rufas.
Finally, the Peña Guara mountaineer Lorenzo Ortas received the distinction for Human and Sports Values, which is named after two journalists who left their mark such as Luis Garcés and Pedro Lafuente, for their extensive career and which was presented by Nuria Garcés.
The event concluded with an emotional tribute to Jaime Ferrer and Javier Gironella, president and general secretary of the APDH, who were two of the promoters of this Gala in 2001. The association wanted to give a souvenir to their widows, María Victoria Gayán and Inés Araiztegui, who were accompanied by their children and family.
The Mayor of Huesca Lorena Orduna presided over the event that was held in the Blue Room of the Casino of Huesca and which valued the work and effort of Alto Aragonese athletes in 2025.
