Huelva Badminton Tournament: ‘A Toy for Badminton’ – Dec 18

HUELVA December 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Andrés Estrada Municipal Sports Center in Huelva will host next Thursday, December 18, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the VIII Solidarity Badminton Tournament ‘A toy for badminton’. An initiative promoted by the IES La Orden Badminton Recreational Club, with the support of the Huelva City Council and the Atlantic Copper Foundation, which this year will once again collect toys and donations for the Ciudad de los Niños school.

As reported by the City Council in a press release, in the presentation of the event, the Councilor for Sports, Health and Consumer Affairs, María de la O Rubio, has called on citizens to “participate in a festive and sporting day in which the IES La Orden Badminton Club brings sport to the whole family, in an afternoon of fun and solidarity in which all the players win.”

In this sense, the president of the IES La Orden Badminton Recreational Club, María Eugenia Lorenzo, has pointed out that “it is the most important tournament of the year because it brings together everything that our club represents: badminton, solidarity and commitment to the city of Huelva.”

For his part, the president of the Atlantic Copper Foundation, Heliodoro Mariscal, has highlighted “the specialness” of this tournament for being held at a time of great spirit of solidarity. “At the Atlantic Copper Foundation, we have been focused for years on helping to launch initiatives aimed at creating a more egalitarian, fair and inclusive society. On this occasion, with ‘A Toy for Badminton’ we have now completed eight editions helping the boys and girls who need it most through a sporting activity and in a very special time such as the run-up to Christmas,” he commented.

Finally, the director of the Ciudad de los Ninos School, Diego Gómez, thanked all those who are part of this initiative for having remembered his institution, “because there is nothing that fills us more than the smile of a child, the smile of our children, who, after all, have had to live through a complicated situation and, thanks to this type of initiatives, we try to give them happiness in these important times.”

The intention of the tournament is to offer a supportive festive recreational day for all levels and audiences, with the aim of reaching the largest possible population through badminton. In short, an event to publicize this sport and at the same time collaborate with a social work.

Registration will take place at the time of entry to the sports center, on the day of the tournament, for which they will have to deliver a toy and/or a kilo of food and in exchange, all participants will be provided with a t-shirt with a very special design and a medal. The tournament will always be played with doubles, giving the possibility to register in pairs or alone, since the organization will be in charge of finding their partner. Children, parents or family members may participate, since the objective is to enjoy a healthy family activity.
